From Free Liquid to Stackable Slurry requires a practical test with the actual liquid, process and handling target. This guide explains how industrial buyers can evaluate a suitable superabsorbent polymer with GELSAP.
Define “stackable” in operational terms
For one operator, the goal is a material an excavator can load. For another, it is a landfill’s no-free-liquid test. Write down the endpoint before trialing any superabsorbent polymer: time to handle, maximum drainage and the required transport or acceptance standard.
Use representative materials
Sodium polyacrylate absorbs accessible water, so a watery slurry may respond differently from a thick filter cake. Sample the whole stream, including solids, salt content and seasonal changes. Polymer added to one surface cannot reliably treat a deep, unmixed load.
Build a dose-response curve
Mix identical sample volumes with several measured doses. Track the time until free water disappears, consistency after resting, and whether gel remains stable during loading. Convert successful bench doses to kilograms per cubic metre only after checking site mixing and sample variability.
Document what SAP cannot prove
