Begin with the failure mode
Cold-chain pack failures often appear as free water, an uneven gel, pouch swelling or leakage after thawing. Each points to a different issue: hydration, mixing, fill volume, seal integrity, freeze–thaw performance or pack design.
What the polymer actually does
An ice pack SAP absorbs formulation water and builds gel structure. It cannot compensate for a poor heat-seal or guarantee a target delivery temperature by itself. Cooling duration depends on the full pack: water quantity, refrigerant formulation, conditioning, insulation, payload and ambient exposure.
Choose performance tests that matter
Compare candidate particle sizes for hydration time, gel uniformity, gel strength and visible free water. Cycle filled packs through the intended freezing and thawing sequence. Examine pouch seals, mass loss and whether gel migrates to one end. Run an instrumented shipping simulation with the real box and payload.

Tell GELSAP whether the application is a water-activated sheet, a prefilled gel pack or another configuration. Share fill volume, desired gel texture, process temperature, pack material and target market. Food or pharmaceutical use requires a separate review of the complete packaging system and applicable documentation.
